Fujifilm is very pleased to announce our introduction of an LTO Ultrium 1 Cleaning cartridge; compatible with LTO Ultrium 1 drives manufactured by Seagate
LTO Ultrium 1 cleaning tapes are equipped with a computer memory chip (just like the data tape). The chip stores various information and it has an embedded code that is recognized by the compatible drive's firmware.
Once the cleaning cartridge is used to capacity (50 times in the case of a Type S cleaning tape), the drive will no longer accept the cleaning tape and will eject the tape, prohibiting further use.
This is very different than other tape formats that will continue to cycle the over-used cleaning tape, regardless of the number of times it has been used
